Baseball
Baseball is a spring sport, played from March through May. The school competes at both the varsity and the junior varsity level. The varsity team may include students from any grade, while the junior varsity is made up of freshmen and sophomores. The St. Lawrence baseball teams practice and play their home games off campus in the village of Mt. Calvary. Players spend their time during the early days of spring practicing indoors hitting tennis balls, batting from tees and working on their fundamentals. As soon as the weather allows, the team moves outdoors to start the interscholastic competition.
Track and Field
Track and Field is a spring sport that begins in the middle of March. Students in any grade are eligible for the team; however, there are a couple events a year that are reserved for only freshmen and sophomore competitors.
As the snow melts off the hillside in the spring of the year, our runners, hurdlers, and field men begin workouts for the track season. Individual determination, hard work and guidance from the coaching staff help each athlete improve his time or distance. Track participants are divided into three groups: Field, Distance, and Sprinters. Each of the groups has their own coach. This allows for much time to be devoted to each student becoming the best at his event.
Tennis
Tennis is a relatively new sport offered at SLS. Spring of 2011, tennis went from a club status to a school recognized varsity sport. Tennis is a spring sport, played in March through May. The school competes at both the varsity and junior varsity levels in both tournament and dual competitions. The school competes in both singles and doubles competition against a number of the local schools. We look to schedule more meets as the program grows each year. Tennis provides an alternative to the traditional spring baseball and track and field sports.
